The Messages In Bottles

Sentenced to a life without your love

Every chair is an electric chair

Every drink is poison

Even tiptoes through space seem to be breaking sound barriers

Even in the tossing of everything into the flames the smoke drifts towards me

Sentenced to a life without your love

In creating a new life and looking at new sunlight

Like shadows you creep into my thoughts

Like putting my feelings of you in a bottle and sending them off to sea

You’ve been floating back to my shores with the same note inside

Today I wonder if you are the one sending it back

Telling me not to forget

Sentenced to a life without your love

Whether or not it is you sending it back

Memories I encounter still make me smile

And I hope they do for you too

About Woe

Words are our outright melody and no one else is going to play the songs you feel but yourself. Let me be more esoteric....just kidding. You may ask when reading my poetry, why do I use metaphors so often? After thinking that through, I honestly don't know why. My guess would be that language, though freeing, can also be restrictive. Especially in terms of expressing ourselves in attempt to understand ourselves. I, personally, get stuck in gears sometimes and I like to expand and break through traditional understanding of the concept at hand. I like to read what I'm feeling in different forms, and see if the language can lossen up more.
